Composting with Worms
Worm composting is becoming a popular alternative for apartment and condo dwellers who have limited space. Worm compost itself is highly prized by gardeners, since it is richer in nutrients than any other kind of compost. Did you know that we’ve had an office worm composter here at 148 East 2nd Street, North Vancouver since 1999? Feel free to drop by and have a look!
For detailed information on how you can begin worm composting, download the GVRD’s Guide to Composting with Worms, the basics of worm composting (vermiculture) in one handy guide.
Where to get the worms? Sometimes this is more difficult than you'd think. If you know someone with a backyard compost bin, you can use a big handful of worms from their bin. If you don't know anyone with a backyard bin, call us at 604.984.9730 or email to info@gardensmart.ca and we'll direct you to the right people, if we have any companies or individuals on file.
